"Jumla" is the Swahili word for "all together" and was the inspiration for the name Joomla!. The Joomla! project is one of the biggest content management systems worldwide, backed by a global community. Joomla! 2.5 is the sucessor of Joomla! 1.5. It is a long term release and represents the state of the art for the Joomla! project from January 2012 to July 2013. It lets you create unique websites in your own language. With the Joomla! 2.5 release, a new search component has been included to improve the search engine in Joomla! sites. Based on JXtended's Finder, Smart Search is quite the powerful tool and can be used to improve search results and show the user exactly what they want. Out of the box, Smart Search will work for most core data, but third party developers will have to create their own Finder plugins to interact with Smart Search. Not to worry, I'll help you get started with that now!

In this example we’ll be tailoring a complex edit screen into something streamlined for a particular client. Joomla! Day LA Recap

On December 3, 2011 the Joomla! Day LA was held at the Microsoft offices in downtown Los Angeles. Based upon the modes of transportation used by the attendees, it was Joomla’s version of “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles”. Several people flew into LA to attend/speak. I personally drove to the nearest MetroLink Train station, rode the MetroLink train to Union Station, then walked the last mile to the event.

Joomla! 2.5 will be released in January 2012 and it is the successor of Joomla! 1.5. It will be a so called long term release and it will be the Joomla! state of the art until July 2013. The versions 1.6 and 1.7 were short term releases and they paved the way to Joomla! 2.5.
