If by "the project" you mean all the appropriate stakeholders in the
community need to drive this, then I agree with you.

I think part of the reason many of us have opted to use jQuery,
instead of Mootools, is that Joomla! 1.5 has such an old version of
Mootools, finding compatible plugins and "How to" blog posts is very
challenging. In the past couple of years, the JS world has really
taken off and there are better offerings for Mootools in the latest

the apache user (I'm using mod_php) instead of as the FTP account user

I've been using my Ubuntu VM more lately as I try to get back into
Joomla development mode. When I try to log into the back end of our
JUG site, I get a token error almost every time. I just refresh/
resubmit (many many times) and eventually I get logged in. Then after

soft code freeze for the 1.5 release effective now. This means that no
changes that will affect language files will be committed until after
the 1.5.15 release.

In preparation for 1.5.15 Mark and I were discussing this issue tonight. A
patch was proposed in the tracker that would disable the SEF plugin whenever
the editor was loaded on a page.
I believe that this would work in most cases. However, I am concerned about
edge cases where you might have a crawlable page that has an editor on it.
